If you are plagued with a cough, continual nasal congestion, thick nasal discharge and pain or pressure in the sinus area, you probably have a sinus infection. Also known as rhinosinusitis, sinus infections occur when something blocks the mucus from properly draining out of the sinus cavities.

Sinusitis can be either acute or chronic. Symptoms of acute sinusitis can last anywhere from one to four weeks, whereas with chronic sinusitis, symptoms continue for more than twelve weeks.
